About Us

The DoorJak was invented by Jim Echternacht. He entered the trades at 18 and worked like a dog to start his own construction company. Always the first man on the job and the last man to leave, he would find himself, from time to time, alone with doors to rehang. Heavy Doors. All the old school tricks work: Crowbars, dowels, flat bars, piles of drywall, etc., but they take time, cause injuries and were definitely a strain on his back (especially as he got older).

Working with an engineer and 5 years of prototype builds and rebuilds, the DoorJak 100 was born. The DoorJak 50 made its appearance after enough requests for a lighter, more portable unit were received... but the DoorJak 100 is Jim's Baby. The heavy, oversized, lead-lined doors are the doors he worked with every day.

Our crews have installed hundreds of doors with our new DoorJaks. Please see the enclosed pictures of one of our installers putting in a 4'6" x 8' solid core fire rated door. We had been using two men and a few hours to install these...the Door Jak handles them quickly and easily."

This is Ben Booher, the GM over at EM Tech, LLC. I wanted to thank Door Jak for the value they added to our recent door installation project, and pass on this photo of our installation team.

Given this project's environment, timing is critical, but with 4 of your Door Jak Installation carts in use, our team was able to install approximately 550 new doors and all associated hardware in a major Seattle hospital in less than our scheduled timeframe with no injuries and without having to shut down and operation rooms or critical access areas.

I'm so impressed by a tool that can reduce work related injuries while delivering efficient and consistent performance.

Way to go, Door Jak!

I've been hanging doors for years, usually with the help of another member of my crew. The DoorJak allows me to hang doors by myself, freeing up the guys to do other things at a jobsite. I can roll the door right up into the jamb and it keeps the door in place while I hang it. The best thing about the DoorJak is that it really saves me from back pain after hanging doors all day.
